I took my car out on Sunday and noticed that my gas pedal was really stiff and hard to push down, its esay to push until about a 1/4 the way then it gets really stiff. any idea what could cause this?

The throttle plates are progressive, with the first maybe 20% opening just the small primary throttle plate. Then you start to open the secondary plates after that, which are much bigger and have a much stiffer spring.
So to some degree that difference is normal, but perhaps the overall force you are feeling isn't. Open the TB by hand and see if it is abnormally stiff, if not, maybe the cable isn't moving freely? |

This sounds too simple, but check to see if the throttle is rubbing against the tranny tunnel. Then check the throttle cables. They should have two clamps securing them to the top of the plenum. Then check the throttle body. You may have to remove the cover to check that the cables are properly connected to the throttle plate cams or rod. It could also be that the throttle plates are binding in the throttle body.
