Talking Traveling ZR-1 New Owner could use some help

This post is specifically for the Virginia clan of owners. I know you are a tight knit group so here goes.

I just sold my car, #458, to a guy who is traveling to Virginia from Idaho. He is having a problem with the air conditioning and the drivers window. I am curious if you all could help him fix these items (or at least check them out) before he leaves for Texas. He is traveling with his 76 year old father and he is worried the heat in Texas once they get there might be a bit much for his father. I don't know his exact scedule, but he should be arriving in Alexandria on Sunday or Monday.

Here's the problems:

The power window switch has apparantly given up the ghost, so he probably just needs a switch.

The air conditioning doesn't sem to blow above the fan level of 5 and it's getting stuffy in the car. I don't know anything about air conditioning so I am hoping one of you might.

Both the left front and rear amps are not working. I just replaced them with ones off ebay so they must have been close to bad.

All of these items were working when he left except maybe the amps. But they worked when I installed them. So who knows. The repair of the amps and the door switch aren't real big concerns, just air conditioning because of where they are headed after Virginia.

If you guys are willing to give him a hand, please send me some contact information that I can give him once he is there. I will also post this in the tech and general sections.

I have also sent Ron Kreigh an email and a PM as he is in Alexandria.

Thanks in advance for any consideration from you guys.

What part of Va is he in? If he is in Northern Virginia, we have a few guys that can possibly take a look.

PM me his email

Cheers

He's headed to Alexandria. Is that considered Northern Va?

Alexandria is surrounded by Fairfax County and yes that is "northern Virginia"... if AC is issue suggest he see a repair shop that can test system. How long is your buddy in the area (I live in Reston which is about 20 miles from Alexandria but is considered Northern Va too).

I'm not sure how long Michael. Ron Kreigh is in Alexandria and he just sent his phone number. Hopefully he knows of a good shop in that area. You can contact the new owner, Dave Hetrick at 1-956-451-6778 or email him at mgbrv8@yahoo.com if you might have any info that could help.

So far looks like the AC is the big thing. A battery went out on him last night in Ohio, he probably has that fixed, a drivers window switch is not working and the two left Bose amps have quit working. The cigarette lighter wasn't working when he left my house either. He plugged in his GPS is how we found that out. Never smoked in it so never knew that.

However the car is getting 27 MPG and running good.

Thanks

So is it actually A/C, or is it that the blower motor won't go fast enough?

For what it's worth, I had my A/C checked out by Cooper Corvettes in Quantico, VA. I don't know if their service shop is open on the weekend though.

They are open today, but only until about 1 or 2 PM, no Sunday.

The window problem is likely a failed motor. The switch is NLA from GM.

Hi guys I am the one traveling. It would be great to meet up with you guys if possible and ask a few question and check a few things. Or if that isn’t practical maybe you could recommend a A/c repair shop or a shop more familiar with ZR1s. I am in Woodbridge south west of the loop 495.
