Default replacing the amplifer relay

First off is this necessary? I've never heard of this needing to be replaced, i'm sure on a 19 year old car anythings possible.
Second how involved is replacing the relay? from what I can see it's under the drivers side dash so I'm assuming it's a pain in the ***

Kevin, have no idea what your problem is but I would bet it's not the relay. If you have a volume problem in all speaker/amps it is the power module commonly known as the CDM. These go bad quite frequently in the Bose system and provide the power for nearly all functions of the Radio/CD head.

Is the CDM also the same as the radio receiver box with the preamps, or the radio control head, I have similar problem with faint volume out of all four.

Good timing for me. My speakers all had sound before storage and restoration. Four years later now the fronts don't work (or I should say very soft sound). So I'm troublshooting these myself to get some sound from the fronts.

Yes basically the brain and power. If the amps were bad as each speaker is indivdually powered you would hear a lot of squal, poping and cracking.
