July 2009 Euro corvette event
Just to let you know that the Classic Corvette Club UK is planning to go on a big Vette event in july this year.....details below
Hopefully one or two of our ZR1's will be in attendance CCCUK TRIP TO HOLLAND – JULY 2009 Last year a few CCCUK members attended the Corvette Fame meeting in Holland. Such was the quality of the event and the location, that we felt we just had to return in 2009, but this time in greater numbers. Rather than go just for a long weekend, it has been suggested we could add on a couple of extra days. An itinerary is below and the trip is open to all CCCUK members regardless of generation of Vette – it would be great to see some of the earlier cars www.corvette-fame.com Wednesday 8th July Morning Ferry or Eurotunnel – aiming to arrive in Calais at 11.00am Cruise 260 miles to Zwolle, Holland where we will be staying for two nights at the 3 star Campanile Hotel. www.campanile.com/hotel/en/NLD12.htm CCCUK room rates (including continental breakfast) are 57euro single, 73euro double plus local tax. The hotel is centrally placed and has parking for 25 cars with a public car park opposite. Thursday 9th July The CCCUK has been invited by avid Dutch Corvette Collector, Andre Boer, to view his private Collection of over 60 Corvettes from 1954 to datewww.dutchcorvettecollection.nl After lunch we can take a cruise around the local area, stopping for coffee or a beer prior to returning the Zwolle for the evening.
Friday 10th July Check out of the Campanile Hotel and cruise 140 miles to Valkenburg, where we will be staying at the Hotel Riche for three nights - we used this hotel in 2008 and have a number of rooms reserved for 2009. Room rates (including continental breakfast) are 80euro single, 95euro double plus local tax. The hotel is centrally placed and has secure parking at a rate of 6.50euro per day. www.hotel-riche.nl Valkenburg is a delightful, historic town and is one of the main areas for the Dutch to enjoy weekend breaks. Consequently it has numerous restaurants and is very vibrant, whilst nestling in some beautiful countryside. Arrive at The Corvette Fame location for mid afternoon to join the organised cruise through the area and Town Centre, which will be de-pedestrianised for the Corvettes. Saturday 11th July Corvette Fame meeting – The location is The Holland Casino, Valkenburg which occupies a prominent position above the town with views of the surrounding areas. The Corvettes are parked on a series of grass terraces and will be arriving during the day. There’s a cruise in the afternoon. Cars can be left on the Corvette Fame site overnight as there will be 24 hour security. Evening – dinner at El Castillo. This is a Mexican restaurant owned by one of the organisers of Corvette Fame. A very warm welcome is assured for all Corvette owners. Sunday 12th July The second and main day of Corvette Fame – a further opportunity to see cars from all over Europe and to meet the owners. Plenty of time for a beer and food. Chill out in the evening back in Valkenburg town. Stay overnight at The Hotel Riche. Monday 13th July Return to Calais (200 miles) for the crossing home If you relish the thought of touring round Europe for a few days, enjoying the company of some great people, visiting probably the largest Corvette collection this side of the pond and chilling out at one of the largest European Corvette gatherings, then this is for you. There is absolutely no problem if anyone wants to join part way through the trip or leave early. The above is a rough itinerary but I do need to know if you are coming so that we can secure the accommodation. The CCCUK hotel rooms can only be held until early April. The room rates quoted are based on 20 rooms being occupied by the CCCUK. If you interested in coming or would like further information, please contact me at richard_rogers@talk21.com or phone 01202 434729. Hope you can make it – you won’t regret it. Rich |
