ZR-1 Plug wires for $456
Man, ZR-1 parts seem to be going through the roof these days.
ZR-1 tire bag for $100+. I remember buying mine for $20 just a few years ago. The other items by this seller also sold through the roof. Makes you wonder what these parts will be 10 years from now. Last edited by xlr8nflorida; 01-09-2009 at 01:57 PM. |

I have a set exactly like the ones Jim sold nib, I will sell for $425 with free shipping. Trying to hold down inflation.

Re: ZR-1 Plug wires for $456
Indeed it would appear some parts are very well sought after. I see you paid $650.00 for the NIB housing, that was top money for that part. Jim has some very nice parts indeed, i wonder why he doesn't come on here and sell them to us direct rather than pay the fees to ebay.
I would much rather sell parts direct than go through ebay and pass the savings on. As an example, to sell a $100.00 part on ebay now cost us $15.00 in fees & commission alone. That used ECU went for nearly $400.00, that's USED, pretty amazing that this could fail the day you install it and then you have another $400.00 to exchange it for a rebuilt unit. Sad to say that early model ZR-1's are worth more parted out than complete, esp. the 1990 models. |

I agree in part to you're statement, albeit the part about the 1990 model.... i have an early numbered car #0074 IMHO, No one can predict, 20 years in the future, which year will be the "collector's" golden child. is a early numbered low mileage 1990 worth more than, say a 1992 ?? In the future?? Time will tell |

Re: ZR-1 Plug wires for $456
The spark plug wires that were sold for $456.00 did not belong to me nor is that my Ebay username.
My Purchases: Ebay NEW NIB thermostat housing $655.00 Ebay New Air Duct $54.00 Your Website: USED Thermostat housing $878.14 New Air Duct $148.51 You are charging $223.14 more then I paid. My part is NEW and your part is USED with 16,000 miles on it? How did I pay top dollar? To date, I've only sold one ZR-1 specific car part and it wasn't on Ebay. It was a 1991 ZR-1 power switch and keys. Jeff referred Sgreg to me because he had been looking for a switch for a very long time. I wasn't even looking to sell it but Sgreg really needed it. I sold it to him for a fair price and even threw in the keys as part of the deal. Just as an FYI, In the future I will be selling parts to members and/or on Ebay. I believe you owe me an apology. Re: ZR-1 Plug wires for $456
One of the answers to parts needs is selling more to each other. I frequently buy parts from members and not on ebay. In fact, I bought a new valet switch from xlr8nFlorida. I trust our members who are knowledgeable and have never failed to be paid by anyone on this forum. The only reason I ever sell or buy on Ebay is due to lack of interest by anyone here in what I am selling or looking for. I am not a vendor but I love parts and am a bit of a parts whore. Don't mind admitting such. The future availablility of parts is in our hands. I would bet we all have some stored. Seems we need to get over the idea that all parts are too much money. GM was too much money. Funny how people will sometimes pay more on Ebay for the same item they could buy on this forum. JMHO, but there is too much worry about price on really hard to find parts. I am not wealthy. I feel your pain but let's not shoot those who want to ofter their stuff to buy. Otherwise, we will be using duct tape a lot more !

Re: ZR-1 Plug wires for $456
Have to agree on this - noticed it a lot. Also noticed that a lot of people will pay more than they can buy things new from Ecklers/Corvette Central etc.

That was my point along, I think it would be beneficial to the whole if Jim came on her 1st to sell his LT5 parts. As an FYI, the reason you paid as much as $645.00 for that NIB housing was because you outbid me, that's fine & i have no gripes with you outbidding me, but lets be real. It's crazy YOU or anyone else paying top money because you are bidding against myself or others on this forum. IIRC, you purchased those oil lines from Jim for nearly $500.00 a few months back, great for Jim, but as we all know that's top money for oil cooler lines, i think if people have some NOS items for sale, post to the registry 1st and avoid the fees and such to ebay. Ebay fees are well out of hand now @ 15% & close to 20% if they pay by paypal. Myself, i prefer to give that 15% discount to someone here rather than ebay. |
