C-Beam adheisive?

What (if any) goop is best to use on the C-beam ends between the diff/trans and the beam? OR, does the use of the C-beam plates (I like so well) supersede using any "goop"?

Paul, I can't find my instruction sheet..........my filing system is sooo great!

I don't remember using anything though. I cleaned off all the factory stuff and made sure that the mounting areas were burr free and put them on.

the gm goop is pretty pricey, and I haven't tried to get it. we install the beam plates dry. with the plates, I don't think it's needed anymore

I got this email back from Bill B re adhesive - Thought the Net might like to see it too

Hi,
The 3m Window weld (P/N 08609) is recommended for this use regardless if
beam plates are installed. The adhesive/sealant helps to keep the beam
joints sealed so as not to work any grit into the seam joints from road use.

I imagine brine etc, would have a corrosive effect on the aluminum C-beams - more of a threat perhaps than grit. (Take if from an old sailor who has seen a bit of what saltwater does to aluminum.) I like to take the Z out to stretch 'er legs a few times during the winter, if the dirt road is frozen and the roads dry. But, salt dust always gives me "cause for pause". One look at the ZF6 I removed to install a new one in my previous 95 Vette will make that point. It is nearly white with Al and salt compounds, so I can imagine the same thing happening at the contact points between the C-beam and the differential or transmission.

Well, I guess I'll round up some goop. Can't hoit, I recon!

one word of caution when doing this make sure you wear gloves as getting this on your skin , well the 2 of you will become friends for a week.this is only a joke not meant to infer anything but to quote my buddies , your whitewash is wearing off

Yes, thanks for sharing the info. I am working on the same issue shortly since I'm installing 4:10s and beam plates.
