Default Jackstand location

Hi everyone - been a while since I've posted on here - switched jobs just after my wedding and have been working like crazy ever since.

Looking at jacking the Z up and doing some cleaning in preperation for winter storage and would like to take the wheels off to clean thoroughly. What's the right place for the jackstands? Is it the jacking points just behind and ahead of the front and rear wheels?

Dave

There are black arrows on the frame that show locations

Thanks for the quick reply! That's what I thought it must be.

How did you get front and back up at the same time? I've tried several different ideas and none seemed to work well.

jack it up in the center, between where the two jackstands are. Use a good floor jack.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Where is the jack making contact or is it just pushed under the back of the car to fit in the garage?

Thanks,

Jason

ignore the jack, its just being stored there, center the jack in the center of the car, and jack it up, place the stands in the proper locaiton and slowly lower the car onto the stands.

Make sure to put the jack on the frame and not the fiberglass.

I've heard of that method but I also heard it wasn't a good idea - something about windshields breaking? Thanks for the location pointer though, she's up on the stands

Two floor jacks work the best. I usually lift the front and then go to the back.

It should not cause any damage, should be done with doors closed and roof on as should any time you are jacking up the car. This method is outlined in several books. Plus not everyone has two jacks. My guess is if you are asking how to jack up the car, I assumed you probably didn't have two.

Jeff - do you mean lift the whole front and then the whole rear? I can't get inder the front without using ramps and at the back I can't get the jack-a-vett underneath without ramps - two sets of ramps maybe?
