speeds in gear
This is from Car and Driver? Or Road & Track? I can't recall which. But I thought someone might find it useful. Of course it's for a stock car:
Gear Ratio Mph/1000 rpm Max speed 1 2.68 8.1 56mph (7000 rpm) 2 1.80 12.0 84mph (7000 rpm) 3 1.31 16.5 116mph (7000 rpm) 4 1.00 21.6 151mph (7000 rpm) 5 0.75 28.8 179mph (6200 rpm) 6 0.50 43.2 142mph (3300 rpm) It's funny how on a 6-speed, 2nd gear would be good to over 80mph. I think the L98 had a 3.33:1 axle ratio with the ZF? So with a 5,500 rpm redline for the L98, the ZR-1 should have had about a 4.36:1 ratio to have the same speeds at redline per gear. It's funny the owners manual says not to shift into 1st above some certain speed. But makes no mention of not shifting into 2nd. Clearly because at any legal speed in the US, you could still drive safely in 2nd gear...

gud chart there
it is funny how we have so much top end in the ZR-1...sure would be nice if we had an autobahn to really open her up in the gud old usa... here is a link for a couple of opportunities to do such!!!
