Talking Fidanza Question

For those of you that have replaced your DM Flywheel with a Fidanza, I understand you need to replace the stock bolts with longer ones.

How much longer do they need to be? Stock ones are 7/16" x 20 x 2".

Also, where can a person purchase them and the pressure plate bolts?

Thanks

I cannot answer your questions but here's a link to the bolts.

You can use 3 packs of torque converter bolts from ARP. I think they are 7/16-20 by 1.25 long. The part number is 230-7303. This is for the flywheel to crank.

The reference to "longer bolts" that you are probably referring to, actually refers to the pressure plate to flywheel bolts. It's not just longer, it has longer thread engagement in the flywheel but retains the same length of the 3/8" o.d. shank.

The longer thread engagement is a safety issue. Whereas the stock bolts engaged the cast iron material of the stock flywheel, the Fidanza is aluminum, which is significantly lower in yield. Bottom line...stock bolts, torqued to stock specifications are not engineered properly for use in aluminum.

Ron Woods sells a new bolt kit that includes the tap to run the threads through the Fidanza to accomodate longer thread engagement. Expensive, but darn well worth it if you consider the possibilites.

Just installed the Fidanza and that's exactly what I did. Got PP bolts from Ron and bought the ARP bolts for the crank. I sppoke to Haibeck about it and uses the stock bolts but for that extra bit of safety, I went the other way. The ARP bolts are actually for a Flexplate but work fine for the Fidanza.
