Air Bag/Seat Belt warning lights
The air bag light and the seat belt light stay on in my 1990 ZR1. The dealer checked the air bag system and found nothing wrong. I changed the driver side buckle and light(s) both still stayed on. What should I check next?

Re: Air Bag/Seat Belt warning lights
Your dealer needs to do a better job.
Ground A-K on the ALDL wit ha paper clip The infl rest light will then enter the sequence for codes. Starting with 12 three times and then onto the trouble codes. Post what you find. Last edited by Jeffvette; 04-11-2009 at 09:53 PM. Reason: image updated |

My 1990 has the same problem. My car does not show any codes just repeats code 12...
Wonder if you have any ideas. Thanks Eric 1990 #740 Blk. |

Re: Air Bag/Seat Belt warning lights
You sure you are grounding A-K, not A-B as the red boxes in the picture illustrate?
On a '90 the likely cause is the crash discriminator sensors having a bad ground. As Jeff said, getting the codes will tell you for sure, and will also tell you which side it is.

Eric, I never updated the image. It's just a generic one for pulling the SES codes. Image has now been updated. If you need help just ping me. I am in Vancouver. Also, what is the scoop on your car? Last edited by Jeffvette; 04-06-2009 at 01:08 PM. |

Re: Air Bag/Seat Belt warning lights
Thanks Jeff. The light just came on this weekend. So i looked thru some old posts to see if i could figure it out.
The car I just bought 2 mouth ago. according to the paper work it looks like you had your hands on it a few times (new powder coat and a tune-up). 1990 BLK/BLK with 9000 miles. The car is perfect except for the light. |

Red engine with a set of headers? It also may be the other one with a silver motor and no other work. I'll be around tonight working on a LT5 if you want to swing by. I'll PM you my number.

Re: Air Bag/Seat Belt warning lights
Mine is the silver one #740. But the RED Engine #477 is for sale at a lot on stark St. I saw it on a lot on Saturday and just stopped to look, when I opened the hood WOW! that Red looked Good. The lot didn't now anything about the car. Do you know if there is any work done in the engine? Maybe I need 2 Blk 1990's

Which dealership? The car just has headers and B&B exhaust. No porting work. But everything under the plenum has been done, coils/plugs/wires. |
