AL show us your cans!
Al,
I heard you have a catch can setup on your Z, any detailed pics/info? Would like to put one on my car, when I pulled the plenum noticed oil in the TB, I assume that can't help performance(oil Consumption). LGAFF 92 ZR1 #234 |

Maybe Rob (locobob) will pipe in and show you his can(s). Rob, how about it? Your catch can setup is well worth the look.

Re: AL show us your cans!
My catch can began life as a stainless steel bathroom soap dispenser, welded two bungs on top for the in and out lines and one on the bottom for a drain ****. I chose the can because of its size - it fits nicely just forward of the master cylinder along the inner fender. I fabbed up a bracket to mount it to the existing inner fender bolts. I drained it after driving about 1K miles and got a little under 1 cup of oil out of it. I would have rather just bought an existing product but all of them that I found were to big to fit where I wanted to put it. The larger cans can be easily mounted in the well in front of the tire but you'll have to route more hose to get it there and then back to the plenum.

Re: AL show us your cans!
Hmmm...my rippie car came with a very similar setup, but mine also is tapped from the intake horn piece to create some type of intake pressure to help evacute from cam covers and rear pcv housing.
This is a pic of the engine bay before i picked the car up in 04........the sweet clear tubbing is going to be replaced with something a little more easier on the eye! Last edited by Zr1 Destroyer; 02-03-2008 at 02:53 PM. |

Re: AL show us your cans!
This is the only other besides the pic from above. The catch cans were paited black to match the top end, but i stripped the paint a realized that they were polished pieces to begin with so i touched them up with my buffing wheel!
When i replace the cheesey clear tubbing i'll snap some new shots along with jeffs pwder coating work on my 415 that's finally back in the car! The other side.....clear evac tubbing shot. |
