Header bolts
I want to replace the 16 or so bolts and spacers with 32 bolts without spacers. Does anyone know how long they should be? I think the stock ones are M8X45 but, some are too long to fit by the primaries. I want to lose the spacers and fill more of the holes.
TIA Nick, if you read this, great write-up on the install.

Re: Header bolts
I kinda read your post wrong, but here was my response on that other site:
"FYI, and IMHO, I just used my old bolts. I got a set of new "Header Bolts" but they were hex cap screws. You would have the get an allen wrench straight on to work with them. The old bolts are accessable straight on with a socket, or from the side with a box wrench. Access is so difficult I wanted the most options. And, FYI, I was able to use my oil dip stick tube without changes, and my (New) oxygen sensors off the shelf as is with just new heat shield/wrap for the wiring." Now I know what you are talking about. I happen to have a Fastenal store close to me. I pretty much removed a bolt, matched the threads, and decided how much longer or shorter a bolt I needed. I went to Fastenal and bought the hex bolt (not cap) I needed. I was able to fit all except one which was blocked by the tubing. The only spacer I used was for the dip stick tube. One great bit of advice from Marc Haibeck which I had to verify the hard way is to get all the bolts started, then loosely tightened, then tighten all the way. Sucks to have to loosen all so you can finally get a wrench on that last nut.... Last edited by tf95ZR1; 10-18-2007 at 03:36 PM. |

Re: Header bolts
Thank you much. We have a Fastenal a few miles from here.
