Secondary vacuum pump test
Hi guys, my 91' was running rough so I got so I got Marc's plenum video a new set of seals and gaskets from Jerry and started in. My vacuum pump was running continuously so I figured it was a leak under the plenum and while I was there I'd clean her up and do some preventative maintenance. I started at the vacuum reservoir and worked my way to the pump. I put my finger over the port that goes to the reservoir and nothing, pump keeps running. When I put my finger over the bottom of the "L" shaped port that runs to the top of the pump, she stops. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Secondary vacuum pump test
Hi guys, just got my pump from Jerry and I realized that the vacuum nipple on the old pump was broken off and I was using the ambient port for vacuum. No wonder it kept running, anyway putting the LT5 back together and we'll see how it turns out.

Re: Secondary vacuum pump test
That planum pull CD Marc makes it a must for anybody doing this for the first time. The fact that you can energize/operate the system and know if it's working before the plenum goes back on is worth the price alone.

Re: Secondary vacuum pump test
Hi guys, thanks for the help. I have the new pump installed and it works fine but it still takes a long time to pull enough vacuum to shut off the pump. then the pump comes back on after approximately 2 minutes. I'm sure the connectors on the vacuum lines are old and maybe dried out. Is there any sealant out there that I can use? I can't find the sealant that Mark uses on his video anywhere, I just need to close this issue out before putting the plenum back on. Thanks for your help!

Re: Secondary vacuum pump test
You need to find the leak before anything else.
