if I remember correct, push the rear lightly forward as you lift up the rear of the trim.
Attached link to trim pics should help. https://www.ebay.com/itm/13397173120...36ee070ffedec7 |

Re: 1992 How to Remove Dash Defroster Vent
I had Marc H. install my V1 radar detector cord (wired into the fuse panel on right of passenger side dash). FYI, when the grille was out, he cut a small notch in the driver's side edge for the V1 power cord so it fit back together flush and stock looking. The V1 fit perfectly in the windshield cutout, right above (and holding down) my I-Pass toll transponder. --Bob

Where are you putting the XM antenna? I had mine on top of that vent and it was ok. I relocated it to the hatch mounted to the glass as I felt the Windshield was causing a bit of attenuation and caused some drop outs

Re: 1992 How to Remove Dash Defroster Vent
Sorry. I didn't read the entire post. I agree with Jeff. I would try mounting the sat radio antenna under the plastic trim under rear hatch trim. Nav antenna works fine under the plastic trim without cutting and fitting.
If OEM windshield with reflector film could cause signal drop out. |

Re: 1992 How to Remove Dash Defroster Vent
2nd Chance, Jeff and Bob,
Got the defroster bezel out in one piece, thanks to y'all sage guidance. The satellite antenna will be in the driver's side windshield "safe" spot area. When I tested my Garmin GPS it didn't have any problem locating the GPS satellites and works ok. Plan to add a notch the on the driver's side of the defroster bezel to feed the antenna coax through and same on the glove box side. Thanks again, Gary .... Re: 1992 How to Remove Dash Defroster Vent
Guys,
In case a backup plan is needed - would appreciate how y'all routed the satellite antenna coax to and under the rear hatch plastic trim. Did you notch a slot for the antenna coax in the rear of the console or ? Many thanks, Gary .... |
