So I was looking thru some of the parts I have and found 3 PF970C
#25014155 black oil filters That when installed the label will show upside down. Is this just a mistake.

Thanks Lou,
Does anyone know if there any of these installed new on the LT5? or were they just a replacement filter issue.

I recall all LT5 engines from the factory had black ones. I was able to buy them at the Chevy dealer during the early 2000?s. Then they changed to the blue color, but either the same PF970C label.

The ones you and I have are the ones installed at the factory.

I have several old black PF970C. Are these safe to use when they are 20 + years old?

They are not safe.
Likely could burst into flame at any moment. I can safely dispose of them if you mail them to me. Why risk catastrophe? Happy to help! Better mail them quickly. ![]() ![]() Marty p.s. I have observed no degradation of stored filters or their performance. I still offer and use them, although Mystic's method of removing the label from new Black Bosch filters is visually almost as correct except for NCRS and is what I often use on my own car to "save" the originals for what I don't know. |

![]() Are there any photos of them with the label in this manner from the factory? Or were these only the over the counter filters?

We know they were through 93. Next time a low mile 93-94 is up for auction, we can check it out.
