Ecklers speedometer module - help needed
Hi all,
I just received my speedometer calibrator modules from Ecklers. Upon my request they told me that of course it'll come with an installation guide. Of course it didn't. Only a manual how to calculate and set the correction value was included. Now I need some precise help on what to do with this thing. Those of you who have it installed: where exactly in your Z did you place it and to which wires does it hook up? And where exactly did you pinch the original wiring? I'm not a dummy using wrenches and soldering iron but a C4 rookie so... Pictures would be ideal... Thanks! Matt |

Re: Ecklers speedometer module - help needed
Hi Matt,
I like to locate the electronic module inside the car where the environment is nice. Cut the yellow wire going to pin A6 on the ECM. Connect the wire from the harness to the input/white wire of the module. Connect the output/blue wire to the yellow wire going to the ECM at pin A6. Red wire fused at one ampere to switched 12 volts. On the C4 thick orange wires are usually switched. Black wire to ground. The Abbott ERA a nice device. Digital with rock solid calibration. Last edited by Marc Haibeck; 02-14-2021 at 04:03 AM. |

Hi Marc,
thanks for you reply in the middle of the night. Extremely helpful. But just to round up my picture: where would you cut the yellow wire? Close to the ECM or inside the car, e.g. behind the instrument cluster? Thanks! Matt

You cut the yellow wire at the ECM connector. The output of the correction module goes into the ECM. The ECM transmits the speed to rest the car.

Very good, thanks! I'll pick this topic over the next weekend. Have to access the clutch reservoir so can combine both work items.

Marc, just to confirm - is that the same yellow wire that runs from the plug at the top left side of the gearbox? I'm thinking about hooking the module up right there and place it under the center console cover. Thanks!

Yes Matt. The yellow wire on the speedometer sensor is the other end of the yellow speedometer wire on the ECM.
