Default Polished A-molds from factory???

My Z gurus....

Did they offer polished A-molds from the factory? I've seen a few sets of GM stock polished a mold wheels and was wondering did they all send them off to be stripped and polished or was it an option?

Story that I've heard is that a few dealers sent out the wheels off of new cars to get the polished prior to the sale of the car.
