Ground strap location for negative battery cable
Can someone tell me/show me where the ground strap coming off the negative battery cable is supposed to go on a '94? It is approximately one foot long

Goes under the plastic battery tray on the frame rail, you need to remove the inner fender well and left fender and battery tray. , I recommend to clean the spot on the frame where is goes and use a good star washer.

I would squeeze some dielectric grease on it before tightening the bolt.

Thanks guys. The car had a bunch of electrical issues after I picked it up from a local shop, securing the ground strap cleared them all up.

May i ask what kind of electrical issues you were having? I've been getting a misfire if i turn on the blower motor (hvac) and i wonder if it might be do to a bad ground strap connection.

Re: Ground strap location for negative battery terminal
Yes definitely, noticed several issues with the engine running. The ABS, ASR and air bag lights would stay lit. The HVAC, tach, passenger window and turn signals were inop. The driver side headlight wouldn't pop up and none of the gauges read right except for the speedo.
When opening the driver's door with the engine off, the horn would usually go off repeatedly and the HVAC blower motor would run until I turned the key to the ON position. All the above issues were resolved after securing the chassis ground to the frame. However, the car has felt fuel starved under moderate acceleration. Today it started sputtering soon after turning on the AC and continued to sputter after turning the AC off. Noticed the CEL flashing briefly while it was sputtering. It died a few times and eventually wouldn't restart. A couple of times it made a strange electrical noise when trying to crank the engine so it's not in the clear yet. |

Re: Ground strap location for negative battery terminal
Thanks Paul, it makes sense that it could be a disconnected or loose ground and I hope it's something that simple. Car was towed back to the shop that just replaced the engine so I will pass it on.
