Default Best penitrating fluid

Of the gazillion videos on YouTube, I ran across this one on penetrating oil that I thought might be of interest.

Check it out!

I’ve used Kroil for many years. Tried the others and Kroil always worked and worked much quicker than the others.

Yup, me too. In fact it is commonly used to clean the fouling in gun barrels as it gets under and loosens copper and lead fouling.

However!! Watch the video! Kroil didn't fare very well compared to the others!! Check it out.

My techs order PB Blaster by the case, and apply it very liberally.
( the only liberal thing that goes on here )

After watching that, I have asked them to order a case of the Liquid Wrench.

We once used the Kroil, but they said it never worked.
They had no idea what it cost or that some love it, but their experience with it was bad.

Now heat?
We use that wherever we can safely do so. We use the flameless one.

BTW thanks for sharing that video!!!

Kroil has a huge following among the shooting sports guys. I've never tried anything else but Kroil on 0000 steel wool to remove slight surface rust from a blued gun barrel or car parts either. But, maybe now I (or someone) will give LIQUID WRENCH a try (to remove light rusting) and report back?

Old-timers use oil of wintergreen

Another oldtime remedy is Lubri-Tasgon?

I have always used Liquid Wrench for loosening frozen items. Always worked great WD-40 never worked as it is just fish oil. --Bob

P.S. I wrote the above before I saw the video. I liked the methodology he used. Seems quite fair and reasonable. Surprised WD-40 did as well as it did. --Bob

I use WD-40 as a solvent for cleaning some parts, AS LONG AS I don't ever use it for intricate assemblies, e.g., fishing reels, gun works or gun bores, and especially carburetors, etc. When it evaporates, I find WD-40 will leave a gummy residue. And, I too find other stuff makes much better penetrating oil than WD-40.

I have always used WD 40 as a Lubricant not a Penetrant, most often on the windows at home, and for eliminating squeaks on moving parts, like door hinges.
I have used Liquid Wrench since the 70's, and at home it is all that I have for
loosening, or cleaning rusted items.
My techs at the dealership are much younger, and I had guessed that was their reason for the PB Blaster preference.
