Default '90 #442 Had a Birthday!

’90 #442 just had a birthday! With a born date of 10/13/89, it is now 29 years old. An interesting side note is that this date was a Friday. Friday the 13th.
We are also having an anniversary. In a couple of days we will have been together for 1 year.
This got me to thinking about the journey we have taken together. As I am anal about record keeping, I have a log of just about every time I have touched the car and what I have spent on it. It also makes me think about the difference in value of a fully vetted car as opposed to one that is in need of the normal maintenance and repairs.
My #442 was a perfectly good, serviceable car when I purchased it. I was fortunate in that the under plenum service was recently done. (Injectors, coils, etc). A lot of the other normal issues were still yet to be done. Radio, tires, fluids, filters, seat bladders, you know the list.
Dove in and started towards my goal of having EVERYTHING work as it should. As of today, ALL systems are good to go. If you turn it on, it works! I will still find things to do to it, but as far as functionality, it is there.
This leads to the question. How much did all this cost? I do all my own work, so there is no labor in this number. $4,363.00 to date! I may have gone overboard on some things, but I wanted it right. For instance, I didn’t just have the radio fixed, I sent all of the components to Dr. Don to make it all as new.
If I had needed to do the plenum service, the number would be well up of 5K.
So, and everyone can answer this for themselves: Is there substantial added value of a fully vetted car?
My opinion is a definite YES. Your opinion may vary.

I attached my log to date if anyone is interested. Might give you some ideas for the next project on yours.

Thanks for reminding me,my car was born in October something 1990,I tried to find the exact date and I think the closest I got was the 13th. The day on the build sheet is 273 if I remember.

Jeff, Here's a link to day numbers in 1989. I think you could just substitute 1990 and find the information.
Have a great one.
