As some may know I recently swapped out my original high mile 90’ engine for a low mile 91’ with some enhancements. The reasons for this are well documented elsewhere in the forum. Various parts from the change over have been sold to fund the project. Recently the old long block was sold. It was picked up today for shipment to Germany.
The new owners, Hovemann Racing, will be rebuilding it into one very special LT5’s. Some of you will be familiar with this race team, I suspect most will not. Hovemann Racing has developed a flatplane crank LT5 that puts out 805hp and 9000 rpm NA for their hill climb Opel Kadett. The Kadett sits on a highly modified C4 chassis and suspension. This block will become one of two engines that are currently being built. The original, was apparently damaged during the past season. The Facebook pages below document the team and the building of both the engine and the car. Norbert was part of the Development Team and documented more of the process. Scroll down through the home pages to see what was done. There are some great videos of the original engine running. The engine is unique, from what I can see it retains only the original block, heads and timing drive train. All else appears to be custom fabricated. I’m anxious to see the further development. Secondary chains are probably heavy duty German chains like Jerry sells.

Given the high compression and rpms they must be running I’m surprised that haven’t gone to a closed deck. Here are a few more pix.

They run a KMS engine management system. It’s a company out of the Netherlands. I’m told it has been highly customized for their application.
