Default ZR-1s in the half-mile

I'd be interested to hear from those who've run a half-mile event with their ZR-1s.

Interested in your speed and times along with your approx horsepower.

Hib,

A number of us from the FBI ran the Wanna Go Fast 1/2 mile several years ago.
My stock CID motor w heads and cams ran 144. They really didn’t time anything.
I know that Al Dashto’s 441 ran 160 and there is a video of that. Pete the Greek ran 154 w stock displacement and mods. Paul Workman ran 144 stock block w porting and exhaust.
BTW, these were all standing start. My RWHP at that time was 454/402 SAE.

Hib,

Here is a spreadsheet from the last year some of the FBI gang ran the WANNGOFAST 1/2 mile event in Monee, IL.

EDIT:

Because the group is constantly wringing out a few more ponies, I can only approximate their HP/CID and diff ratios.

NOTE: I was only able to upload the 2014 record. But, if anyone is interested, PM me w/ your email addy and I'll send you the Excel file with all the details for 2013 (which was more comprehensive in terms of ZR-1 participants).

What i notice is we pick up 25-26 MPH over our 1/4 MPH.

The two 441ci ZR-1's run 134-135 in the 1/4 they both ran 160 @ 1/2.
I ran 128-129 MPH 1/4, 154 @ 1/2.

Pete

Pete,

Yeah because my 1/4 is at ~ 119. Interestingly, my 1/8 mi is ~ 92mph. So again, a similar pickup of course over twice the distance. Not sure if there’s any significance to that unless as a comparative. I know we did well vs C5s and C6 that were also NA. IIRC, Al’s car was in the top 25 cars NA or FI.

I'll be running my car this November at the Dallas WGF 1/2 Mile. Build by Pete with 391 and stage 2 cams. Hoping for at least 155.

Interesting question, Dom. But, given the dynamic (physics) variables, e.g., wind resistance (drag) increases with the square of change in velocity, and torque under the curve differential over the different segments of the race course [including gear selection and avg RPM] (for another), trying to draw any conclusions would be very ambiguous. ("The percentage of ambiguity would cast significant doubt on the accuracy of the prediction" - as my Statistics prof would say.)

A really fun experiment that (the 1/2 mile run) was. As we mark time in terms of LT5 mods, it would be interesting to do these runs periodically to gauge the improvements. (i.e., $$/RPM )

Again...if you want, I'll send you an email w/ the Excel spreadsheet that contains all the 2013 results - including results from multiple runs that some did. Fascinating (to me) stuff! In fact, I've got the FBI email addys. So, I'll simply broadcast them to yaz and then you'll have 'em.

I ran with the FBI group in 2013.
I think I ran 146/147
RWH is 430, ported headers top end stock rear end.
Paul would need to look at his 2013 list to know for sure what it was.

have only ran the 1/4 mile one time after the work was done and it went
12.2 at 122 MPH but only ran 4 runs that day....would need more seat time in it, but have not been to track now for four years. might not be able to shift as fast as I did back than!
