Default Fuel gauge stck on 1/2

my 1993 Z has a fuel gauge that is stuck on 1/2. After filling tank, remaining mileage is also stuck on 212 miles.
Any ideas how to re-set of free it?
Thanks!!

Jeff is right. Easy to pull the fuel sending unit - takes 5 minutes with pliers and a 10mm socket and a VOM.

Mine fuel gauge appeared to be acting up when I first bought the car. When I removed the sending unit from the tank, the sender checked out.
Curious, with a flashlight I looked into the tank - while I had the sender out - only to discover a RED SHOP RAG floating in the fuel!! So, I hooked the rag with a piece of wire and removed it. Problem solved!

Had the same issue. My float plus shaft came unclipped from the sending unit rod. I put it back in and reinforced it with one zip tie and viola. I’ve fixed so many minor annoying c4 things on my ZR it’s insane.
