Default No Crank Any Ideas?

Pulled the plenum to change out original coils and rebuilt injectors. Put it all back together with new injectors from FIC. and n.o.s. coils, tried to start. Turn the key, everything on dash lights up like normal, fuel pumps run, but engine doesn't even crank.
Pulled plenum again, everything seems to be hooked up, no bent pins on connectors, and I thought they were all straight and tight.
I pulled the plenum the 1st time 10 years ago, put it all back together and it ran fine. Any ideas whats not right this time? Thanks jim

I'll assume that before the most recent plenum-pulls, the car started and ran ok. I'll, also, assume that the battery is ok, as are battery cables and connections.

Have you run though the no-start diagnostic info in the Service Manual?

Verify that both battery terminals are clean and tight. Disconnect any after market systems attached to the battery terminals.

Put the ignition key to ON, Engine not started. Note the battery voltage on the instrument panel. Turn the key to start, while watching the battery voltage meter. If the needle does not deflect, then investigate the starting circuit, ie clutch switch, VATS, TDS.

If the volt meter does deflect, it means that the starter solenoid is energizing but the solenoid contacts are not passing current to the starter motor. Rebuild the started solenoid or replace the starter.

Good luck,

Jim

My friend's 91 just had a no start episode. Had just come out of hibernation after being on a trickle charger all winter. Started fine after taking it off the charger but would not restart after an ice cream stop. We thought it must be VATS or clutch switch since everything else worked but turned out to be a weak battery. Try putting a charger on or jump starting before anything more radical.

The above two posts will likely help you isolate, identify and resolve the problem rather quickly.
Simply do what each suggests, starting with the battery.
Good luck, and keep us posted with your progress.

Progress report,
1st I would like to thank all who responded. Spent the day putting plenum and everything back together, taking time to ensure all connections are done right. Tried to start engine with same result, fuel pumps run, dash lights up like a Christmas tree, engine doesn't even crank.
I observed what QB937 suggested, watched volt gage, gage moves up when key turned on first notch, when turning key to start notch gage moves back a hair. No crank.
Next thing I am going to try is Top Toys suggestion. Take the battery out and have it load tested, since it is the easiest thing to do 1st and because the battery is 10 years old. Although it has always been on a trickle charger, and never given me a prob.
I am hesitant to believe it is a starter, vats, or clutch switch problem because the car only has 12,000 miles and has never given me any kind of trouble before. I wont be able to work with the car until later in the week, I'll try to update with progress and possible look for more help. Thanks Jim

That 10 year old battery is certainly suspect! Good luck!

I reinstalled my plenum this past weekend. Cranked but no start. CCM 20 amp fuse was blown. Replaced and all is well.
