Default Big dollars for 1990 ZR1...

Today I finally joined the club and brought 1990 #682 home. In looking over all the paperwork that was included I found the original bill of sale from December 14, 1989. The original owner (I am the third), paid $85,900 for the car before any taxes or fees, then paid the dealer $394 to install a radar detector (still there) and $1450 to Intercity Lines to have it shipped from Washington. I remember stories of people paying over sticker for these when new and this proves it did happen.

Sorry to would be sellers for the thread title but I couldn't resist.

Double sticker was not unusual.

Those were incredible times. Congratulations on the buy. I am sure you'll enjoy it immensely like the rest of us. You might want to christen it with a trip to The Gathering in mid-May.

If I had acquired that "Bill of Sale" I would probably frame it and display it in the Man Cave.

Is the radar detector a Valentine One? If so, it could probably use an upgrade from Valentine.

On the price.... back in 2003 at the Pomona Swap meet Charleton Hestons black black 1990 ZR-1 was up for sale by a family member. He said Mr Heston paid 90K when it was new. It seemed believable to me given the source whom said it.

I'd heard of $100k given for a 1990 ZR1 back in the day, but never seen anything in writing.
Back in 1990 that was more than enough to pay for a reasonable home in the 'Burbs, and in some places would have gotten you into a very nice house indeed.

Get in it and drive it like you stole it!
Everybody knows the '90's are faster and sexier.

Pics?

Here in Canada they started at $100,000.00 before taxes Canadian and went even higher . The 1990 my friend brought over for me to test drive from his dad's GM dealership was selling for that . I remember looking at the speedo just as I was shifting into third and it was doing 100 mph . Wicked !
Funny how a ZR-1 test drive I did recently had the speedo in the same location ! De Ja Vu

Congrats on the car !!!

Congratulations on the 90 Z.

That's pretty cool having the original bill of sale. I would love to know how much the original owner paid for mine.

It was too dark when I got home last night for pics, and today is too rainy... hopefully soon. I should have taken a few when I picked it up, but I guess I was too focused on the paperwork...

Congrats on the Z!

I'd be curious to know what was the most expensive Z ever bought. I know my Window Sticker says $60,610 (there wasn't much variation I'd imagine other than the Climate Control or Top choice), but I'd be curious to know what the most paid for a Z was back in 1989 or 1990..... Too bad more people didn't save their paperwork.

The Original Owner of my car said he paid sticker, but mine was also born end of End of may Beginning of June...
