AC compressor

I am chasing oil being spun up by pulleys. I degreased the front of the motor and sealed water pump bolts since it was oily close to the power steering pump area. This helped but still seeing oil under the AC compressor pulley. Can AC compressor leak oil without loosing refrigerant?

No, However the leak can be small that it will take time to lose enough refrigerant before your AC wont work. My Wife Monte Carlo has a small leak in the Evaporator. It take just under three years to leak enough refrigerant when it no longer will work.

On the same note if you have a 93 through 95 buy a 30# drum of R134A. The Automotive industry is moving over to R1234yf, R134A is going to go through the roof just like R12 did.

Propane based refrigerant.
I am guessing if your car has 15+ gallons of flammable gasoline, 3 pounds of highly volatile propane is not that big of a deal.

I guess the government is looking at the GWP of 4 compared to 1320 for R134A.

GWP= Global Warming Potential.

Great advice, Robert. I bought two 30# drums of R12 in the late eighties/early nineties for my Porsches. I was certainly glad I did not much later. Not only did the price go out of sight, but the law changed so you had to have a license to even buy the stuff. I think I'll start stocking up on R134A right now.
