Default A/C help

Left Dallas this evening with the wife for a road trip (to a car show in far western Oklahoma) in the Z and made it about a mile from the house before my ac compressor went up in smoke. Everything seems to be ok as long as the clutch doesnt kick in, so We decided to press on to the car show sans ac, but it was pretty brutal until the sun went down. We made it to Oklahoma city for the night, so I wanted to post and see if anyone knew about parts availability. The smoke looked like it was coming from the clutch, so I presume I'll need a compressor, clutch and dryer at a minimum.

I bought a remaned compressor w/ the clutch & pulley off of e-bay. It was less that $300.00. They even asked which gas I had in the system before they sold me the parts. I'll go thru my bills to see if I can post the name of the company if you like? I think they were based in TX.

Sounds like the way to go. Would definitely like the name of the company if you can find it. Luckily I have a great wife who is taking the hot trip in stride!

Do not just replace the dryer and compressor.
Replace the "orifice" also.
All you have to do is just take it out and look at it and
you'll see why.

Also if you're not already using R134a it a perfect time
to switch. R12 is disappearing. It is illegal to manufacture.
You may still find some from old stock but... when its gone it's
gone and as stockpiles recede $ goes up.

OUr ZR-1s use the nippondenso 10PA17 Compressor. The regular Corvettes L98/LT1/4 use the Nippondenso 10PA20 which is a larger compressor. Keep this in mind where ever you buy one. Here are 2 I found on eBay:

Also the first one says Denso (which is the SAME company just a shortened from nippondenso)
