Default 95 lumbar pump not working

My 95 pump moter is not working, it sounds like it is running but no air is coming out. I've been reading the threads on this problem but it seem they are for a 90 - 93 car, does anyone have info on fixing or replacing the motor on a 95?

Thanks
Mike

Pull your motor and take it apart. I would think the rubber diaphram has given up the ghost. Probably a tear or rip in it. Not a big deal to fix. Get a heavy duty dishwashing latex glove and cut out a circle to replace the one you take out. SHould be good as new.

Actually, the 94-95 pump is an entirely different beast from the 90-93 version. There's no replaceable diaphragm inside, I think it's a vane type pump.

I'd pull the passenger seat bottom cushion, to see if the pump is even running at all when you hit the switch. The passenger side pump feeds both seats.

If the pump isn't reacting at all, pull the plug and check for voltage at the connector when the switch is pushed. If there's voltage there, the pump probably needs to be replaced. I don't think it's serviceable.

Sorry, thought they were all the same. That's sucks 'cause the older ones are cake to fix.

yep, not sure why they changed over to the different style pump. Perhaps it may have been to improve reliability, since I rarely hear of the later style failing.

Also, if the pump is running when you hit the switch, be sure that the black air supply line is still connected, both at the pump, at the solenoids, and at the cross-car harness. You can also feel for air at the pump when it's running, with the hose disconnected.

Thanks guys, I took it out and will be taking it apart tomorrow to see what I can find out. I checked a couply of web site for a replacement but no luck. If I can't fix it, I'll start checking junk yards.
Do you know how much pressure it puts out, I might also look into finding a subsitute pump.

I'm not sure how much pressure it puts out. I don't have a gauge that can measure pressure (only vacuum). If I think of a creative way to measure the pressure I'll let you know.

Took the motor apart anf found that is was seized up, so i lub the parts and also the rubber the holds it in the housing. Put it back together and it worked! Not as much pressure as a new one but does the job. i also looked into a 12V marine air pump and found one that might have worked for around $40 buckes. Did not buy it because I fixed the orginal. The other option I looked at was one from a different car which there were a few that looked to be about the same size but you would have to switch the connector or hard wire it in. Sorry no pictures, it took about an hr from start to finish. thanksMike

Thanks for the follow-up, Mike! Good to know that the pump is at least somewhat serviceable!
