Corvette Museum Probe
I received this email, does anyone know anything about this? How would they obtain my email address?
This message is a "probe" for your subscription to the ZR1NETREG list. You do not need to take any action to remain subscribed to the list. In particular, you should not reply to this message. Simply discard it now, or read on if you would like to know more about how this probing mechanism works. A "probe" is a message like the one you are reading, sent to an individual subscriber and tagged with a special signature to uniquely identify this particular subscriber (you may not see the signature because it is in the mail headers). If the subscriber's email address is no longer valid, then the message will be returned to LISTSERV and the faulty address will be removed from the list. If the subscriber's address is still valid, then the message will not bounce and the user will not be deleted.

Re: Corvette Museum Probe
They have the email address you used when you registered. They send out probes to identify email addresses that are no longer good, so they can purge those invalid email addresses. I just always open mine and move on but you could just delete them. They are legitimate and nothing to be concerned about.

Re: Corvette Museum Probe
No idea but I understand the OPs concerns. Any mention of probe to a man over 40 is always a point of concern

Re: Corvette Museum Probe
Erv,
When you receive one of these you are to grab your ankles and cough. At least that is what they told me

The NCM hosts the listserv and periodically sends a probe to determine if your email address is valid ... I don't believe that one "bounce" removes you from the list but I do check the list weekly to make certain that a member has not been inadvertently removed. I can't remember how often I receive a probe from the ZR1NETREG but it's not very frequent (I just dump 'em in the trash). In a typical year you should not receive many emails from the ZR1NETREG ... you should have received a recent email from the listserv advising you of the updated access info giving you access to the Members Only section of the ZR-1 Net Registry Home Page ... probably the next one you receive will be a reminder of the May gathering in Bowling Green. It is the goal of the ZR-1 Net Registry to maintain good communications with all members without ever being intrusive. Hope this answers your question. As always, should you have any questions about membership in the ZR-1 Net Registry feel free to contact me. George Jones |
