Backfires when shifting
I have a Corsa exhaust and a Mark Haibeck chip. When I shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th I get a backfire which is very annoying and embarrasing. I was wondering if a leak in the exhaust system is causing it. I am thinking about getting the exuast system welded up.
I have read that Mark's chip elliminates the backfire. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Don |

Re: Backfires when shifting
Yes it is the exhaust that is backfiring. Can the exhaust system be wlded up in place?

Re: Backfires when shifting
Decel creates a vacuum in the exhaust which sucks fresh air into the exhaust if there is a leak. Any unburnt gases get ignited with the heat and oxygen mixture. DFCO eliminates the excess fuel. If you have popping on decel, you can reduce fuel in the CLOSED PORT Throttle VE table at the 20-25 kPa cells.
