Default Rev limiter

I was out driving last night and was driving her pretty hard and missed second and third back to back. (piss poor driving I know, still getting used to the monster) I got off the gas both times as soon as it was apparent that I didn't have a gear, but I still revved it pretty high (not sure how much). Me being the paranoid person I am worries about causing damage.

-My 91 has a Marc Heibeck chip. Does his chip have a rev limited and if so where is it set?
-Is over revving something not to worry about as long as it's not done often with intent?
-What kind of problems can occur from over revving an LT5? Can problems that are hard to pick up on occur, or she's either good or broken?

NO WORRIES! IT'S AN LT5, BRO!

Marc did not change the stock limit of 7200 in my chip, but I'm going to (or have Marc do) raise it to 7500 to take advantage of the new power curve. (Now dayz, with the Fidanza FW to boot, it whacks the limiter pretty regularly.) Doing the math and we can bet Pete has his limiter set considerably north of 7500 to make those 7500 rpm burnouts and 129.x mph passes in 3 gear with the stock 3.45 rear gear.

It has been written that the chains are good for 8k, but GM set the limiter to 7200 as a practical limit as the stock torque/power curve were tailing off above that point and there was no point in beating up on alternators, PS pumps, etc. that don't do so well above 7k.

In the book "Heart of the Beast" it documents a 400 hour test where an LT5 was alternated between peak torque and peak rpm - running a little over a WEEK like that (to put it in perspective). Afterward, the engine was torn down and measured. It was determined that it could be reassembled and be ready to do it again... "We aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto!" And, the LT5 ain't no typical SBC pushrod motor. So, to answer your question about bumping the stock limiter? No worries!
