Northstar ZR1 (Here we go!)
Has anyone ever put a Northstar into a ZR1? Would it even fit? How similar is the Northstar to the LT5, physically??????? It would take the Northstar wiring and all, I'm sure.
I'm not planning on doing this. I just wonder if it's ever been done? (this should be good)

OK Brett......are you bored now??
I have one question..... WHY? (even consider such a travesty) I think you need another project (not the one you're asking about either!

Re: Northstar ZR1 (Here we go!)

Re: Northstar ZR1 (Here we go!)
I finished a 54 last night and have two 53s going at the same time. At least I didn't ask about dropping in a blue flame. Lol

Re: Northstar ZR1 (Here we go!)
Nobody is going to like this, but the new Toyota Tundra 5.7 variable cam at 381 hp is the most closely spec'd engine to the original LT5, but with modern controls and vvt, variable intake manifold tuning, etc.
then, if you could interface the new ecm to the CCM in the C4, an LS3,LS7 etc would be the proper thing to do. |

"...the proper thing to do" (Oh gawd...) It's high time you drove a Z that has been fully ported and cammed and tuned - "FBI'ed", so to speak. Then LSx and ZR-1 would never never be mentioned in the same breath again!!

Re: Northstar ZR1 (Here we go!)
I'm going to eventually need an LT5 for my 90 that I bought without a drivetrain. Since LT5's seem to cost as much as an entire car these days, I got curious and searched Ebay for a Northstar, since it resembles an LT5. They are plentiful and a dime a dozen.
Now, would I actually drop in a Northstar? Doubtful BUT I do like to be different than everyone else. If the Northstar was already a 500+ HP motor (and it's not) my $3500 1990 ZR1 would actually be a consideration just for shitz and giggles. The car will never be a high dollar car anyway and I do have another Z for driving. Reality is...........I'll be on the prowl for an LT5 over the Winter for the 90. So, NO NORTHSTAR for me.
