Default Performace Regrinds

Just picked up a set of 94 Stock Intake Cams on Ebay for $150....they are going off for regrinds:

Intake: Primary 222/415 lift Secondary 236/425

Might be able to get both done ar 236 425

If there is an interest let me know, cost would be $450 per set/exchange

Exhaust cams breath well already on a mild build not needed......can get those done for a reasonable amount also at 222 425

These are done by a prefession race cam engineer in the USA....no fly by night

How do these compare to my Jeal intake cams? Want to take them in exchange?

Hi:
Generally speaking I understand what increasing cams do but I am unaware of the effects on our LT-5s. I recently drove the Blue Turtle and Jim's new Lingenfelter 368 Black Z (through WAZOO), both AWESOME but both different from each other. I really like the sounds of both cars and they are way faster than stock.

Not trying to pester you but again... May I ask: What are the effects of the various sizes of the cams to the power curve? Do these raise the effective red line? If so, what other mods are needed to match the cams?

Confirmed I cannot re-heat treat the Jeal cams since they are already finish ground.

Hard to give exact #s, once my engine is done will be able to ball park it....I would estimate an additional 20hp at the crank....

These cams will work with stock or ported heads.....my cams are based upon a tested profile...unfortunately that was 20 years ago, not much data available. The regrind was not used due to EPA laws at the time.....

Giving out too much info could jeopardize our ability to use them....

I am 110% confident in the quality and as stated in other threads this guy has designed cams for some of the fastest cars in the world, and well known race teams..

A more aggressive cam will be moving the valves further and/or faster. Can make existing redline tougher to survive. General rules would imply that improving valve springs (and depending on the technology, lifters) would be prudent if you're keeping or looking to extend the redline.

The improvements in power approaching the redline (where factory setups tend to flatten out) are worth some effort.

I don't know enough about the existing valvetrain capabilities in the Z, so I can only spout generalities, sorry.

Wish cams were legal in my class... Then again not having them legal saves me some temptations!

Apparently the internals are good for 8K RPM, however oil or the lack there of at the bottom of the motor causes failure...per line manager at Mercury

Technically these are stock cams
