Default The Morris Cruise - June 11th!

The Morris IL Cruise Nite has traditionally been one of the better events in the area - especially the first one of the (4) held each summer. It features all kinds of cars, car clubs, and "special theme" clubs, including a semi-tractors club showed up last year. I don't know what the all time record attendance is, but #s in the thousands would not surprise me.

However, this event has not seen too many ZR-1s; two at any one time (including mine) is all I've ever seen there. I recon it is time to reintroduce the crowd there to the Beast, don't you? This is an opportunity for some of the southern state Z drivers to meet their northern contingent of the FBI too.

To get a good spot on the main drag, we should arrive as a group at the entrance (on Washington St @ the south side of town) by 4:15. So, to do that, we should rally at the WalMart parking lot located off SR 47, just south of the I-80 expressway and pull out en mass at 4PM for the cruise through town to the event gate ($10 per car entry fee - a charity fundraiser)

I will see to getting a prominent spot reserved, and see if I can get our Registry Banner by then so we can set it up to mark the spot and attract the curious. There is a LaMex restaurant and a couple pubs in the area, in addition to some usual carny-type hot dog vendors, etc.

So, who's in????

Exclamation Update on Morris Cruise Nite: Includes a tour!

(As seen on the CF form too)

The Morris IL Cruise takes place every second Saturday of the month for four months, begins on June 11th. This series has become very popular with all the local car clubs, and you are in for a treat as far as the variety of cars of all kinds that make that show!

Not to be out done, there is going to be a gathering of ZR-1s there. But, beforehand, there is planned a little fun 85 mile tour out and back along a very pretty, and a little bit twisty drive, before ending up at the Cruise. And, no it isn't exclusive to ZR-1s - think of it as a bunch of Corvette nuts out to have a good time, so invite whomever driving whatever (Corvette?) along. The more the merrier!

Tentative plans is for the tour group to form up at the boat launch parking lot around 1:30 PM on Saturday and begin the tour at 2:PM. The route will take the group out along the south side of the IL river to Starved Rock, before crossing the river and doubling back on Rt 6 to Morris in time to enter the Cruise Nite.

The Morris Cruise is a charity event. The entry fee is $10 per car, spectators are free.

This is going to be a lot of fun - is every year! The variety of cars is terrific!:smash: There's food and drink provided by the local merchants and street vendors. It is an opportunity for ZR-1 guyz n galz to meet and share in some comradely as part of the summer driving seaZin!

Then, if I might add...

The FBI (Fast Boyz of Illinoiz) will be hosting some more activities a the BLOOMINGTON GOLD get together a couple weeks later. More on that in a later post...Stay tuned!

Exclamation Re: The Morris Cruise - June 11th!

Spoke with Dave Johnson yesterday. He and Jim are heading over to FBI territory to pick up "The Blue Turtle", and will be joining the Morris Cruise-Cruise*. That makes 5 so far.

*The plan is to leave the boat ramp parking lot (north side of the IL river, just east of the Rt 47 bridge) at about 1:30 or so and take the "DuPont run" over to Starved Rock, cross the river, and come back to Morris on US-6, returning to the boat ramp parking lot to join with those that didn't make the road trip portion of the event, and then file into theCruise together around 4-4:30.

I am excited about this event. Thanks for organizing the ZR-1 participation Paul.

David and I will arrive in the Chicago area on Friday evening and go to Pete's. Saturday we will meet up with the group for the Morris Cruise.

I have to head back to Maryland on Sunday morning.
