Default Saturday 2/12 Gathering...expert help needed>>>

Well, my project came together sooner than expected in that parts came back early so my last moment asking if anyone in WAZOO has couple hours on Saturday to help install beam plates and a new exhaust.

All prep work is done... removal of OEM exhaust and a bit of house keeping on the bottom side>>

All tools and material (anti seize/exhaust pipe sealer etc) in hand and the Corsa exhaust has been completed:

Media blasted and ceramic/baked on coating in satin black (yes I debated about changing out the OEM exhaust, but changing from polish cans/tips to black was one hurdle cleared and besides I have the OEM exhaust nicely stored for future use). And once OEM exhaust is removed (and I know I am preachin to the choir) boy you can see how restrictive that exhaust is)

Polished up the Corsa pipes a bit>>>

I really appreciate that the resonator is a straight thru no reductions in pipe size and that the H cross over is full sized (many reduce the hole diameter regardless of the H pipe size>>

I am sure the exhaust install is straight forward...it is the beam plate install that is where I am looking at experienced hands.

If folks can not make it due to late notice most understandable and I can look to early March.

Thanks all

Michael,
I am going to be preping my car this weekend for the header install next weekend. I am trying to get this used Corsa system as nice looking as yours. I am no expert with the C-Beam plates, but we put them on my car when I did the clutch. I can come by and give you and hand if you need it.

Guys,

Since Michael did not remove the "C" beam, best way to install plate is to support the trans, unbolt front w/o pulling the bolts out, place the plate and get the thread started for 2 bolts. I believe front bolt torque is 40 ft-lbs. For the rear, it would be similar procedure but the torque is 60 lbs, I believe.

More challenging will be installing the new exhaust w/o leaving excessive (any since it's Michael) fingerprints.

This is really cool... you guys are going to help on such short notice. I know I am not a big attendee on many WAZOO gatherings and I do feel bad for such. I appreciate it.... so to details:
WAZOO GATHERING: 2/12 SATURDAY and lets make it at 10 am

Address: 1464 Waterfront Drive, Reston, Va. 20194

I will provide coffee/snacks and in this case a heated garage but Saturday is supposed to get into the mid 50's so that will be nice.

I have the new MOTIVE brake fluid replacement system and if anyone wants to use to change out brake fluid just bring your brake fluid of choice.

Thanks all who will attend

Oh..blue turtles are welcomed

And yes I chuckle a bit about finger prints...there is a bit of a story there and it certainly is my looking to myself and laughing

Heh, as I'd debated for like a year to finally paint my Corsa system, it looks like I should have waited a couple weeks longer. I could have seen what it looks like on an identical car before committing to it.

Probably won't be able to make it, but I'll keep it in mind.

From what I understand, the toughest part of the beam plates is getting a wrench on the top nuts. I had mine done by Marc H. when he did the headers, though.

I really, really like how your mufflers and tips turned out, Michael. That's one sweet exhaust system!

Wouldn't you have to remove (and reinstall) the bolts since I assume having four plates two of which would be for the bottom side of the C beam??>>>

Michael,
Yes, your are correct, the bolts have to come out, but being careful and not having to remove your C-Beam, the driveline alignment can be maintained. Should be a pretty simple proceedure.
