Transmission "clunk"

Today I heard the first strange noise out of my car. At idle it will make an occasional "clunk" noise, about every 10 seconds or so. CLutch engages smoothly, holds great, shifts smooth, and doesnt make a peep at anything over 1200 rpm's. Any ideas?

I am going to call my pals at rps and have them start putting together a triple carbon clutch for this thing in anticipation of the clutch shooting craps.

The first thing that comes to mind is the "C" beam bolts being loose.
It's an easy fix if so. Also, is the CAGs solenoid disconnected?

ok I understand what the c beam bolts are, but the cag selenoid is greek to me. Can you explain what it is to me, or should I get my manual out lol

Does your car have any kind of miss, could be the dual mass flywheel.

Well it has a bit of a lope at idle, and I "think" it is coming from a vac leak under the plenum > I haven't really had a lot of time to dedicate to the car yet as I am still finishing up three other builds I started before I got her.

It idles arouns 900 rpms, unless I am coming down from speed then it hangs aroun 1200, and drops a few seconds later back to ~900.

The guy that had it before me wasn't exactly honest with me when he sold the car, but I figure sooner or later I will have the time to dive into it and pinpoint all the issues. In the mean time, I may as well make use of the years of experience on the forums to help me get a running start

I would say get the "lope" fixed before doing anything else. I think that's causing a clunking in the DMF. Very common for these Beasts. 900 is pretty high for a stocker, I think you're dead on with the vacumm leak.

This thing has the 465 hp lingenfelter treatment, not sure if that makes a difference with "stock" or not.

The guy that had it before me had the plenum off, but he seemed kind of confused with particulars of the car. I know he replaced injectors, but I am thinking I might order another set, and redo them again just to make sure, as well as replace the coils, etc. The injectors that re in there now are yellow.

I still have a lot of reading to do to get acquainted with this thing.

The CAGs is the solenoid used to force a 1st to 4th shilft. It's for emissions. Most of us have them unplugged. Maybe yours was plugged back in when sold?
Anyway this lockout when going in and out can make a clunk.
The CAGs is located on the drivers side of the tranny.
You can check the C beam bolts while under there.
