Starter???
I have had LORDVDR's battery on the charger for a week. I went out today to start him up. Turned the key and all sounded like it was going to start as normal,but didnt. Got a Click,Click,Click out of it thats all. Please don't tell me my starter just went caput...... Fellas? Your thoughts.

I would guess you have a dead cell in the battery  You could have poor primary contacts in the starter solenoid but that usually comes on gradually wherein a couple clicks and it will start

Steve,
It sounds like a bad battery. Try to jump start it and most likely you will be able to. If so, thst's a confirmation of bad battery in need of replacement. |

I had an issue with no-start where motor would start, I could shut off and then nothing. Leave it for a bit then it would start. I usually could get it to start with the charger hooked-up. I finally swapped starters to a 94 I bought on fleabay. Haven't had another starting issue since. |

Hey Steve, It was great to see you at the gathering last week.
I had exactly the symptoms you describe on two XR-1's this year. It was a bad battery in both cases. Start there. Get the battery load tested at a battery store. If it doesn't solve the problem, we can trouble shoot the starter and starter circuit. No worries. Jim
