Re: Who has/uses a radar detector
Rabbits are the lead dog that helps trigger your V-1 when you are still out of range to get locked on a radar gun. I like to tailgate at 1000 ft when its just the two of us out there making good time!

Re: Who has/uses a radar detector
So the Chase Rabbit vehicle is the car in front of you speeding the same speed but he gets busted first? Like running track... But what is the point if the Rabbit/your buddy gets busted? Please somebody explain in detail what is Rabbit and Waze. Thank you.

Re: Who has/uses a radar detector
Another issue today since 9/11 terror tragedy and "big brother" watching us with video cameras all over the freaking place, speeding fines have increased, Cops have an attitude, and with cell phones, people calling Cops even if you are 3 mph over the limit because of jealousy. Okay so maybe it's safer today? It's good and bad. Back in the 80s and 90s you could drive 95 in 75 mph zone especially out west in New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and remote areas of Florida with no problems. Not anymore. The USA has the most rules of any country in the world. I can be fined, even jailed for fishing in some areas of Florida but Obama gives amnesty to 10,000 Haitians-many whom are hard core criminals now walking the streets of Fort Lauderdale living in free housing, paying no taxes and taking American jobs AND committing crimes!

Let those speeders pass then follow them from a safe distance.. about a 1000 ft usually works out. Except in the case where I was stopped for 102 in a 70 by the CHP around Buttonwillow on the I-5. Two cars had passed me so I got in position about a 1000ft back. They opened up the gap ( well over 1000 ft ) and when I proceeded to close the gap and that is when I got caught. The LEO told me those 2 cars in front were 90+ but I was over a 100 and he decided I needed to be stopped. It all ended well after we chatted for a while and I finally said, "I guess its the guy driving the Corvette that gets the ticket". He replied, "since your driving a Corvette I am going to let you go". This was in 2001 when I was going to Petaluma from Socal in my 88 vette to look at what would become my 1st ZR-1. If only he had known the speed I was going to hit in a couple weeks on the way home from Petaluma! lol ! The I-5 is one long straight boring road through the central valley.

Re: Who has/uses a radar detector
Valentine V1 here!! Love it!! Money well Spent!!
I have put 10,000 miles on my car (all with a V1) since buying it at the end of 2007 and only have gotten one speeding ticket the night I bought the car. I had the V1 on but didn't read the manual that would have warned be about police use of "instant on" radar. He got me for 91 in a 60 but I considered it a good lesson learned because I was slowing down from 143. lol. I haven't ever gotten the guts to go that fast again. I never shift to 4th with the intent to run hard on the street. I drive hard but I choose carefully when and where and for very short periods of time. My V1 lets me know when the coast is clear and helps point out the Speed Enforcement regulars . I hard wired mine from the fuse box up the inside of the passenger side A pillar and across to the rear view mirror. My V1 gets hung from the windshield up high behind the mirror so Law enforcement can't see it from directly behind my car. It is also nearly impossible for them to see it when they are standing at the drivers door because the car is so low and the radar is mounted up so high to the roof. It doesn't seem to impede the ability to catch radar from behind but might impede laser from behind, I don't know. Not worried about laser much, especially if its behind me. Laser detection just gives you a few seconds advanced notice that you are already screwed.

Re: Who has/uses a radar detector
I also like the high position mounting up next to the rear view mirror. The signal might be diminshed a bit because of the solar ray tint. However, I have picked up KA band from as far as an estimated 7+ miles.
I also like the quick release cups so stashing it for any reason is quick and easy to do.
