Re: Installed No Flex Frame Stiffener Bar System
Hi Bob,
Mods are SGC 368 550hp engine pkg with stage one cams, 3.73 rear gears jeal headers, front sway bar removed. lite weight racing seat (driver) 4-point roll bar from DRM with swing out door bar. Relocated batt to rear pass side. Motor makes 418 rwhp thru the 4l80E trans, do not remember what the rwtq numbers are. I think the frame stiffener bars made the car leave better. AS it appears to raise the car up and out and not make the rear squat down. Go to personal racing stories, check out "a little test and tune ". I foot brake at 1600-1800 rpm when leaving the line. Some time this week i will change out the front stock tires and rims for the pro street tires and 6in wide modified 1990 rims. If you can make Orlando Speed World on the 18th of Jan. Its $10 to race and free BBQ. Check their web site www.raceosw.com for information. John 1990 white/black #2546 one of a few auto(4l80E) eq. ZR-1's |

Re: Installed No Flex Frame Stiffener Bar System
I'll be putting mine on as soon as I get the car back from Corey. Looks to be a pretty simple install.

Re: Installed No Flex Frame Stiffener Bar System
I doubt that these bars affect the 60ft. times on the average ZR-1, because it seems to me that the only flex that would affect rear-end geometry is if there were frame flex longitudinally between the rear end center section, and the front mounting points of the trailing arms, (which is not a great distance). Isn't that what the Rippie trailing arm brackets are for? To create ideal rear end geometry at launch?
In fact, the entire bar assembly is mounted forward of the rear-end center section. And although it affects overall chassis stiffness significantly, does not really affect rear-end geometry. It's clear that the affect of these bars would be much more noticeable on a road course where overall chassis rigidity comes into play to a greater degree. Any chassis engineers out there? My main question is: Do the bars do a better job of stiffening the frame than a four point cage would? Or, would a combination of the two be the best of all worlds. My thinking is that neither would improve the drag racing launch significantly enough to incur the penalty of increased weight, (and cost). And, so far, no one has presented any data that suggests otherwise.

Re: Installed No Flex Frame Stiffener Bar System
Did the same install last year on my Z. Now I need two more sets for my GS and wifey's car. It is worth your effort to get one.

Re: Installed No Flex Frame Stiffener Bar System
price is a bit steep for me. if I could find a set for ~$350 i'd be all over it. $500 is a bit high.
