The first time you get caught speeding your legal fees are going to be more than the cost of the V1.
Especially if Al or Dom are in your caravan.

I have one more comment on the escort 9500 vs V1-
I like the GPS feature on the 9500 series as it truly does work properly to remember the false K band alerts from shopping center radar door emitters, but the downside is if you buy more than one unit ($) from them, the database subscription is tied to the serial number and not you so you would have to pay twice for that. It is nice to be able to usb into your pc and configure it with the latest database settings for the national red light camera locations as well as being able to turn on or off any particular band- (I personally ignore X and K-band).

I might like to have the V1 for my hobby cars and the Escort 9500 series for my DD.

Then I guess I will be the last car.. I have a GPS and maps so I can find where I am going

I just cannot justify it at the moment.. I will also just need to behave on the road..

I have a V1 & Escort 8500. Don't use them.
PM me if you want one of them.

MY V-1 has served me well since 2004 with little regrets. The 2 tickets I have recieved were my own fault and unlikely to ever happen again. Your lucky to get a laser alert unless its pointed at you and its probably going to result in a traffic stop.

I have been fortunate a few times to sway the officers decision to write the ticket on several occassions by simply asking for mercy and that has saved me considerably. Once was a 102 in a 70 and the other was a 92 in a 55.

The last ticket was in May of 2011 for 71 in a 55. With no rabbit in front of me I ran into a line of cars and the CHP slicktop Crown Vic was 2nd or 3rd in the pack and

shooting through the corner of his windshield from a ways off. The signal strenth was about a 5 or a 6 and I slowed immiediatly, however, it was to late and we had a

discussion on the side of the road about expired plates even though they were already paid, it was a smog cert issue. Price? $450... Remedy? The online Ticket Kick website

saved me $300 for a fee of $150 by using the Trial by Written Declaration defence. It was 7 pages of why radar can get it wrong and some data collected was site specific

to where the infraction was written and included in my written defence declaration. I was blessed !

No radar for me. I just dont drive fast on the highway. Especially here in Illinois, anything over 26mph over the speed limit is a misdemeanor and you can goto jail.

Yes it sucks. Back in the day all you would get is a ticket.

I stay out of the left lane, always signal when changing lanes, and am aware of my surroundings.

If I take a road trip I will get one.

Rabbits and Waze are the best defenses these days. It's a shame because the car cruises so nicely at 90+ and it's a fantastic road trip car. If you haven't taken one, I highly recommend it.

Can't agree more that careful driving is the real savior; cruise control is my best friend. I use it locally; set it at 35 in a 30 zone; wife got a ticket at 37. I haven't had a traffic conviction since 1978. Still, I like knowing if they're taking pictures of me so I still love my V1. It's just that I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times it has really, truly saved me. --Bob

If political priorities with state and federal highway funding were changed we could have autobahns in the western states with plenty of room to spare.

Btw... what kind of defence does Waze mean?
