Re: Bada$$ Intake
I know these are a stupid series of Q's.......but I gotta ask'em
You can use that on a stock LT-5 or you need a highly modified LT-5? That intake manifold incorporates the I/H's with the plenum for a one piece system? It's obviously a waaay custom part....no one makes those for sale to the general ZR-1 owning public? Kudos to the engineer behind that part, it sure is sweeeet! I ain't gonna even ask how much $.....because we all know hp adders for an LT-5 ain't cheap! It just seems to me that that is porting & port matching all in one drop on package....okay some creative plumbing changes....but that's perfect for a guy that rents garage space & can't do any work.....like me....okay, okay, this is killing me......How Much??? Tom

Re: Bada$$ Intake
Does someone make a plastic cover that looks like the normal LT5 intake you could put over it? That thing looks badazz for sure, but it sure ain't pretty!

i'll have more info in a few weeks,i know it raised peak power to 7100 with small cams. Yes,one piece straight flow system. Couple reasons i can think of why nobody will market this. 1: Cost 2: If it raises the peak to 7500 how many would have interest. Many say 7500 is too much for the LT5,i think if you keep her under 8k she is OK,if it makes the power up there. Complete with custom feul lines, regulator, gaskets, ect. Around $4500-$5000 parts only, no labor. Pete

Re: Bada$$ Intake
Pete ,
this cost is fair for that system! i would pay for this BUT in same time this will not give me much gain over well fully port factory LT5 engine, as i spoke in many things to the Engineer manager of KINSLER FUEL INJ. last year, so they fabricate manifold( but without plenum, same as their system which gives Big Hp gain, and also the fuel rail would be outside, but the truth this thing would not put more power over the Oval ported Lt5 intake sytem!! Jmho The LT5 is one of the finest manifold have been produced...and still will be. I post before about this project in Zr1 net forum. i wish if you take that sytem and compare it to Oval ported Lt5, and give us the results. Good luck Last edited by HADI-ZR1; 03-29-2008 at 03:14 PM. |

Re: Bada$$ Intake
Pete,
Thank you for taking the time to post a reply! I guess I was just dreaming. LT-5's have hydraulic lifters anyway, my guess that anywhere north of 7.5k rpms for any lenght of time would invite trouble....eventually....maybe.. Eh, who knows...maybe at Carlisle this yr I'll get lucky and find some one selling an early top end that I can have dunn up.....swapping a plenum + I/H's ain't gonna take that much time.....I'm a member of the Knights of the Plenum Pull! It seems that this intake would be the key to a 500+rwhp 350. With the right cams and 8k rpm you would have an alternative to a stroker build. BTW, that intake needs a clear top. |
