Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question
Opps I forgot the bubble warp is covered on both sides with aluminum foil.
also you could warp DEL cool tape around your air filter housing, but not over the air filter. JOHN |

Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question
GARY,
Yes the tape reduces radiant heat from the radiator. If you have access to a temperature gun before you add any type of insulation check the temperature at different areas of your radiator shroud (motor running) Then add the tape or the aluminum covered bubble warp between the radiator and air box and recheck the temp (motor running) You should see a slight drop in temperature. You will not have outside air feeding thru the front bumper, you would still be getting air from inside your engine bay. hope this helps John |

Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question
John,
Appreciate the information. Will add the DEI cool tape to the back of my air filter housing. About 20 years ago I did a study on Corvette floor heat insulation. Compared floorboard heat reduction products; Hushmat, Ceramic heat barrier, Energy Q & Kool Mat. Hushmat won hands down with a 40% temperature reduction. Hushmat product was 1/8 inch thick. Adding 1/8 inch under the air filter house probably would be too much. Thanks again, Gary .... |

Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question
UPDATE:
The material I used is called REFLECTIX sold in Lowe's , home depot ETC. Double face insulation rated R-21. Cut and place it between the air box and radiator shroud. Don't use cool tape as it not effective as the double face REFLECTIX in between the the air box and radiator shroud. Just cut to fit so you cannot see it when you put back together. Hope this helps. Re: After Market Air Filter Housing Question
John,
Thanks for the update on the material you used. Have used that material to cover attic water pipes. Question - how/what did you use to secure the Reflectix to the housing? Appreciate the tip. Will give it a go. Gary .... Last edited by chesnut; 06-20-2023 at 02:52 PM. |

John,
What adhesive did you use to glue Reflectix to the air filter housing? Gary .... |
