I think you'll find the stock Z LT5 is starving for AIR. Just doing a top-end P&P and SW headers mine went from (about) 337 to 400 hp at the wheels. Then even more w/ porting the heads.

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the two.

Welcome to the BROTHERHOOD OF THE BEAST!

Got it home in the garage. Checked it over on the lift quick, no surprises looks all good. Just needs a good cleaning. Looked and found a Haibeck chip in it. Has a number 1404209 on it. Tires came today, so have to get them on. Can't believe we finally got one!!

I believe Marc keeps a record of the changes he has made to the calibration.

Marc's latest BMCBG Chip for 93'-95' is version 4. What you show is one of his earlier BMCBG chips in which he modified the stock chip. Later Haibeck Chips are separate and attached to a stock chip. I am not sure how he addresses the upgrade of one of his earlier chips which he may have to go back to stock and add his attachment. Marc normally does not need the stock chip to which you attach his upgrade chip.

You burn 91 Octane or better

You remove the blue part and attach original chip to Marc Haibeck chip which is then inserted into the original slots of the ECM.
You have to use shorter screws for the ECM Chip Cover (I use SS 6-32 x 3/8 inch Allen Head screws) .

There's a lot of ways to go faster than a 400 hp C4, but the 32 valve powerband is very Coyote-like and hard to compare to LS and smallblock type engines. Once you get it running good, it is just sort of unique.

The LT5 is the most fun to work on of any engine that I know of.

There are a few simple tricks that assure the "Once you get it running good it is just sort of unique" and after that.....just drive it hitting well over 100mph in the quarter mile in 3rd gear. And cruising in 6th gear at less than 2,000 rpm burning 91 Octane at a rate over 28mpg.

Bought it for what it is, and plan on modifying but not too crazy. Don't want to go overkill like the blower C6's we had. Been reading tons of information on the site. i would like to get it at least as fast as our Lightning. I figure port work over the winter. Right now general maint, a good cleaning, and drive it till the snow flys.
