No offense, but the car just is not worth that much money. I turned down an offer on a very nice black one recently with less miles and in near perfect shape. And that one was only $18,000. 1990 models will not bring more than $20,000 unless someone doesn't know what they're buying.

Sounds like you missed out on buying a nice car.
Sometimes that bargain ZR-1 isn't such a deal once you sink thousands to fix everything...you'll be wishing you spent proper on a well sorted car, but good luck with your buying goals whatever they are.

I've seen plenty of 1990 models bring more than $20k. Low milers, of course.

I agree....18,000 for a near perfect 90 ZR-1? Black no less? That to me is a good deal..I'm biased, I think black is one of the top two or three colors personally.....(Not many to choose from but mean as hell when it's waxed to the max.....

As far as getting parts Jerrys gaskets has everything......I knew very little about the LT-5 when I bought it but with a little research I was able to remove my plenum inj housings for porting and put back together.....Also changed a starter, coils, wires and plugs..

If you take your time and have decent tools the LT5 is really not that difficult to work on........The ZR1 registry is an awesome forum to get advice....

It was a great car, the prices are still trending downward unfortunately. If you compare prices on 96' LT4 convertibles versus 95' ZR-1s, in many instances they are the same or within 2k. That shouldn't happen. I'm wondering if its because of low demand for C4s, the ZR-1 windshield issues, parts availability, or that many sports cars are surpassing the hp ratings of C4s. Whatever the reason, it is troubling. Convertibles in general seem to be holding better than hard tops.

I totally agree with Gen2rt. I say enjoy driving it, owning it, showing it and in time prices will go up. I bought mine several years ago because of its history and fun to drive, not to make money. If u want to make money, buy stock. Lol

I wish people would stop trashing the 1990 zr1. They are not a dime a dozen as most want you to believe. It is the record setting model year car. It is the only different car compared to the rest of the zr1 made. They feel a bit less refined and more like a track car compared to the later year wide seat and heavier cars. It is the best deal and you should not care so much about resale because they are all selling low right now.

back in the day it was a 60k car. It is not as fast as the brand new z06 but neither is the 200k porsche 911 karmen ghia. why is that pile 200k??? because some people just pay it regardless if its worth it or not. those people are not concerned if they perform horribly against current cars, they just want to drive a porsche!!! why is a 1990 lamborghini countach 1 million?? top speed 180, 190... crappy durability and impossible to fix for under a million... sells all day long at auctions... is this car any better?? no.. The classic car buyer has been brainwashed to think cars from the black forest or red italian cars are better period. they all drank the koolaid. enjoy the fact that your 1990-95 zr1 can beat the hell out of similar year supercars for less than the tax they paid for there overpriced junkers. I am biased when comparing our cars with there cars. I am as biased as they are with there cars. No other production car, has ever broken the 24 hour top speed record... no italian cars, german cars, swedish cars, race cars.... only a purpose built vw got it done...purpose built, non production car. Feel proud that for a few shackles you drive the legend.

I am in your camp Ed. I have dreamed of the day when a 90 to 95 ZR-1 is modified to reset the records and calls out the supercar pretenders at the same time.
