1990 LPE 402ci.

I just got an email back from Tim Dyer at LPE and he said no! They never offered a 402cid. Only 368 385 and 415. So somebodies not telling the truth or miss spoke.

Look at the ad. It clearly says Lingenfelter 402cid. Not DRM. So if anything it's a misrepresentation of who built the engine.

It doesn't matter to me anyway since I'm not buying the car. But if I was planing on it I would have already contacted the seller and got who built it clarified. It's still an awesome car no matter who built.

Hmmm I'm staring at LPE's print catalog from 1998 and it lists a 400cid 575+hp package.

Also my LPE 368 does not have the plenum engraving, think a fair amount of the cars done in the early/mid 90's are like that.

Locobob, I believe you are correct. A good friend of mine owns a Lingenfelter 402 car. He bought a Lt-5 in a crate and sent it off for the build. Lingenfelter had promised close to 600hp with this build. After the motor was built and installed in his car they Chassis dynoed the car on a dyno jet and were less than thrilled with the result versus the claims. The car was then sent back to Lingenfelter to deliver what what promised. I don't believe the car ever quite acheived the numbers they expected but still ran well. As a matter of fact I competed against this car at auto-x's and ran against it on the drag strip when it turned an 11.9. Pretty stout for 1992, or thereabouts. This engine did not have the plenum engraving as well. My friend still owns this car. He is not active nor has ever been active in the ZR-1 registry I believe. The car always sounded great and was a big influence in why I own a ZR-1 today. I will say that this car has been driven and used and always well maintained and to my knowledge has never given him an ounce of trouble. I is my understanding that the reason for the 402 was for reduced oil consumption that was an issue with the early 415 cars. I do not know that as fact, merely a conversation I had dwith someone regarding this particular car many years ago. Just thought you might find it interesting. Especially after Lingenfelter saying they did not offer this. Wierd.
