Re: CTS-V Brakes
Just got off the phone with an engineer at a local custom brake company. The older CTSV calipers have been discontinued and are less than ideal when mated with a C6Z rotor - pad overhang. Furthermore he said they aren't really much better than the C6Z caliper in terms of wheel clearance. The 2010 Camaro calipers are similar but do not use a radial mount - not a good candidate for adapting according to the guy I talked to. The 2010 Camaro rotor would have to be adapted for C4 use - again not really an ideal candidate.
Now for some good news: They are finalizing a C6Z front brake kit for the C4 using factory C6Z type rotors. They are also working on a rear kit which will feature a C5/6 style parking brake - expected to be done near the end of summer. One of the locals with 19in CCW wheels will be doing this upgrade so once we get rocking on it I'll put up some pics and info. We also talked about adapting the C6Z front caliper to a smaller rotor, perhaps a 13 or 13.5 - this would allow use with a wider range of wheels. I will be visiting these guys in person sometime soon and bringing some wheels with me. My goal will be to come up with some cost effective brake upgrades using a high degree of OEM compatible components.
