Was just curious on lt5, found out the hard way 383 with hypereruetic keith black pistons dont hold up up to 10.5cr in a boat on pump gas, it still lasted quite(years, roller cam went in, it lasted 5 hours) a while till it broke the top land off the piston and wasn't room in cyl for it at 6000.

12-1 is pretty high for a "non lt5" engine
the new direct injection and efficient combustion chambers help as does the variable cam timing the lt5 of course benefits from an efficient clover leaf combustion chamber and a dished piston at high CR and is pretty detonation resistant even at high CR |

you must also remember that you reach a point of diminishing return,with compression ratios;
you get more hp by going from 8 to 9:1 than you get going from 11 to 12:1 bj 91/1735 98 c5 2002 z06 w/procharger |
