You could send him your AUAH PROM if you wanted to save some costs (though call him to ensure it actually will save you money). When it is flashed, the whole thing is cleared and re-written. So it would be the latest base code with his changes on top.

At least I believe that's the way it works. I've never actually done it.

Excuse my ignorance but a couple of questions as this mod sounds very cool for my Ultima GTR:

1. Does it just plug in or does it require soldering?

2. My ECU sometimes plays up and doesn't run the secondary injectors also the idle can fluctuate sometimes, will this chip sort that (assuming Secondary's issue is just the ECU)?

3. Do I need to send in my ECU or can I just buy and then 'plug and play'?

Thanks in advance for the answers guys.

Mark is the man, the chip GURU! They do work the best. I have had stock and Doug Rippie. Marks are the best I have used.

1) You just plug it in. Very very simple.

2) I had the same problem which is why I decided to try the chip. Fixed my problems. Here is a link that describes what it does; http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...on%20AYBKG.htm

3) plug and play. It's the PROM for the ECM, not the ECM itself. Although he does sell those too if you have a failed one. The chip is easy to remove and replace. Use a 10 mm wrench to remove the two nuts that hold the ECM to the bracket. Turn the ECM over. There is a cover on the back that is held with four 1/4" head fasteners. Pry the cover off of the gasket and you will see the chip. Push the white levers apart to remove the chip. Note the position of the alignment key on the chip and insert the new chip facing the same way. Disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 seconds to reset the ECM after installing a new chip. And your done.

Hi all,
Tried to get in touch with Hailbeck but they don't seem to answer the phone or emails?
Does anyone know if they are still selling the chips?
Thanks in advance,
Robin

I think I can almost guarantee you that your secondary issue is not related to the ECM or the chip. Most secondary issues are related to vacuum problems, mostly leaks in the system, the idle issue would point to that as well.

Here's a link to a good overview of the system and diagnosis.

One possible exception is if you have a 91 Z with a 90 chip, the secondaries will not initiate. 90 Z is apart from all the rest.
