Re: Oil Catch Can
Thanks for all the comments; you guys are too kind. I could not have done this without all the help of the family here. Especially Jeffvette and Locobob that share the ideas and fixes to avoid getting into trouble. It is a PC (bright aluminum silver with clear coat) from a local shop and really wanted to use Jeffvette and Locobob for the full treatment, but shipping from Hawaii and divorce a few years ago set me back and it seems like forever to get his far. I really hope to get it going in the next month at the latest and hope all is well. Sometimes I am too meticulous and it takes so long to do something.
The bolts for the headers are the Stage 8 LT5 kit: http://www.stage8.com/ I'll be sure to post more as I progress. Mahalo and Aloha!!!! |

Re: Oil Catch Can
just looking at your pictures again and i have a question..
Would it not be better to have the fittings swapped? the inlet on the side then the outlet on the top? opposite of what you have

Re: Oil Catch Can
according to the place that sells them, he has it correct.
but you would think the loweer hose would be inlet and then the top the outlet, cause if you forget the empty it, you will suck oil in the motor

I'm not smart enough to challenge these types of things and I just followed the instructions of the manufacturer. I could not explain why to you so here is it direct from Chip at Custom Corvette Accessories: The flow should be from the PCV to the top of the can and from the side of the can back to the manifold. Think of it this way, if the flow was reversed, the air would be passing through the filter media on its way to the manifold. As you probably noted, it is not a filter material like a fuel or oil filter. It works differently. The air released by the PCV is saturated with oil. The filter works by providing surface area for the air to pass over. As it passes through the media, the oil attaches to the surface of the media and then drips off into the can. The air flow going down into the can helps pull the oil down into the can for capture. Also if you think of airflow direction, it if were hooked up backwards, the air would be passing through the oil saturated media, further impregnation the air with oil on its way to the manifold Regards Chip Haselton Custom Corvette Accessories www.CustomCorvetteAccessories.com CustomCorvetteAccessories@Gmail.com 12215 Vista Brooke Dr Manassas VA 20112 (703) 794-8035 |
