Yes, lift the whole front. One jack on the driver side and the other on the passenger.

Then go do the rear. If your exhaust is off, you can lift by the differential.

I only have one floor jack and lift from either end of the car. To get enough clearance for the jack I cut a 2x10 into four 18" pieces then cut a 45 degree bevel on one end of each piece. They're easy to drive up onto and don't slip away on the concrete floor of my garage.

Then I lift the front lifting from the cross member under the engine and place the jack stands. Then I lift the rear lifting from the differential (I put a 4"x4"x4" piece of wood on the floor jack pad to reach up between the pipes) and place the jack stands. It takes a little longer than using two floor jacks but accomplishes the same result.

Lowering the car I reverse the lifting sequence (rear first and then the front). Don't forget to put the 2x10 pieces under the tires before lowering the car (btdt ).

On the write up it says only lift enough to get the stands up at their minimum height. My stands have a miimum height of about 30cm (12 inches) - is this too much?

Thats fine, I put mine up higher, not sure what was meant by that, as long as the jacks are meant to go that high you are fine.

Jim, that sounds like a good idea with the 2x10's. I have a small jack that I start with and then put in the large jack. The wood looks like a better idea. But wait - I bought a Kwik-Lift last summer so I won't have to use the jacks this year=D>

Hey Bob how do you like the kwik lift? One of those is on my list for next year.

When the "Back to the 50"s" car show was here last summer I bought the display they brought here. Got it pretty cheap with no shipping charges. I haven't used it in the "up" position yet. Just been driving onto it on the ground without the front risers. The weather has been pretty good so I have had the Z out alot in the last week. Just did a 80 mile run today. You'll have to email me and let me know about you new job you mentioned above.
